Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) announced today, that during its second quarter of fiscal 2021, its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., which is part of Comtech’s Commercial Solutions segment, was awarded an US$ 11.4 million delivery order in support of a previously announced US$ 58.8 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract from the U.S. Naval Information Warfare Systems Command. Funded orders received to-date under this IDIQ contract now total US$ 42.1 million.
HISPASAT, the Spanish satellite telecommunications operator, has signed a multi-year and multi-transponder agreement with Gilat Satellite Networks, to renew and expand the contracted satellite capacity to extend the mobile networks in the United States using Amazonas 2 and 3 satellites located in the 61º West orbital position. Building upon an earlier agreement reached in the middle of the year, HISPASAT, the Spanish satellite telecommunications operator, has finalized a new agreement with Altán in Mexico to significantly increase the cellular backhaul services to expand its cellular network. This way, the Amazonas 5 satellite will provide Altán coverage in the Ka-band to connect 665 new base stations from its Red Compartida which are added to the 65 stations in the original proposal. All told these stations provide a total of approximately 4 Gbps of satellite connectivity.
