VIVACOM Selects ST Engineering iDirect to Expand Broadcast Service Offerings

Herndon, Va., June 23, 2020

ST Engineering iDirect, a company of ST Engineering North America, has further strengthened its long-standing relationship with leading telecom provider VIVACOM with a new agreement to supply MCX7000 modulators to facilitate additional broadcast offerings in Eastern Europe and Africa.

VIVACOM, the largest telecommunications provider in Bulgaria, will use the MCX7000, a dense DVB-S2X multi-carrier satellite gateway, to launch new video services in Africa, in partnership with a global satellite operator. The modulators will also provide enhanced services for an existing Direct-to-Home (DTH) operator across Eastern Europe.

The MCX7000 provides exceptional high link availability through redundancy support on its input and output interfaces, as well as advanced redundancy switching techniques, such as seamless protection switching (as per SMPTE 2022-7). The modulator offers a host of features, including efficient distribution to end users and Pay TV operators’ headends, or for use in back-up or dense DTH platforms, generating significant business savings.

The modulators can be used for broadcast contribution applications on standard wide beam and High Throughput Satellite (HTS) spotbeam transponders, and features ST Engineering iDirect’s Clean Channel Technology and its linear and non-linear pre-distortion technology Equalink.

“We are pleased to be teaming up with our trusted partner ST Engineering iDirect on our latest projects in Africa and Eastern Europe,” said Vladimir Rangelov, Senior Manager, Broadcast Services at VIVACOM. “ST Engineering iDirect is renowned for delivering the highest standard of equipment and technology, providing maximum efficiency, and unparalleled reliability and customer support. We look forward to building on the solid relationship that has been established between our companies.”

“ST Engineering iDirect has had a close partnership with VIVACOM for many years, and we are pleased to strengthen our collaboration with new projects and service offerings that have been enabled by our best-in-class broadcast solutions,” said Steve Tunnicliffe, Regional VP for Europe, Middle East & Africa at ST Engineering iDirect. “We will continue to invest in our capabilities to build solutions for the present and the future, enabling VIVACOM and other partners to benefit from the longevity of our network and solutions and reap the maximum benefits of their investments.”

VIVACOM specialises in providing video, land and maritime VSAT networks services across Europe, Africa, Latin, America and parts of Asia and Antarctica. The company has a long history with ST Engineering iDirect leveraging the Newtec platform for its broadcast business, and the iDirect platform to provide high speed, high reliability mobility services for vessel operators.
